Governance and Business Practices

Res Practica is owned and published by the Centre de recherche en éthique (CRÉ), an interuniversity research centre hosted by the University of Montreal and funded as a regroupement stratégique by the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ).

The CRÉ brings together researchers who approach ethical questions from a range of disciplinary perspectives. Its core team comprises more than 75 co-investigators based at over eleven universities and colleges across Quebec, together with over 90 collaborators elsewhere in Canada and abroad. The Centre grew out of the Centre de recherche en éthique de l’Université de Montréal (CRÉUM), founded in 2002, and became an interuniversity centre in 2014. Its research is organised around five axes: fundamental ethics; ethics and politics; ethics and economics; environmental and animal ethics; and ethics and health.

Res Practica extends the CRÉ’s commitment to multidisciplinary research in ethics and to the dissemination of that research beyond the academy.

Editorial Governance

[à compléter]

Res Practica is directed by one or more Editors-in-Chief, appointed by the direction of the Centre de recherche en éthique in consultation with the journal’s editorial board. Editors-in-Chief serve renewable terms of three years.

The Editorial Board assists the Editors-in-Chief in setting the journal’s orientation, assessing the fit of submissions with the journal’s aims and scope, and identifying reviewers. Its members are appointed by the Editors-in-Chief for renewable three-year terms and are drawn from the range of disciplines represented in the journal’s scope.

The Scientific Committee advises on the journal’s long-term development and scholarly standing. Its members are appointed for renewable terms and include scholars from outside the CRÉ and from outside Quebec.

Guest editors of special issues are appointed by the Editors-in-Chief following review of a proposal. They assume editorial responsibility for their issue, under the oversight of the Editors-in-Chief, and are bound by the same policies as the journal’s regular editorial process.

Editorial decisions on individual submissions rest solely with the journal’s editorial team. Neither the Centre de recherche en éthique, nor its host institutions, nor any funding body has a role in the assessment or acceptance of manuscripts.

Funding

Res Practica is supported by the Centre de recherche en éthique. The journal charges no fees to authors or readers, and no author is required to secure funding in order to publish.

Advertising

Res Practica does not accept advertising of any kind, either on its website or in its published content.

Direct Marketing

Any direct marketing undertaken by the journal — including calls for papers and announcements of new issues — is limited to appropriate scholarly channels. Such communications are unobtrusive, well targeted, and truthful, and make no claims about the journal or its editorial processes that would misrepresent them.

Revenue Sources

Res Practica generates no revenue from publication fees, advertising, reprints, or the sale of content. All content is freely available to readers.
